What inspired you to start working remotely?

Choosing to work remotely wasn’t something I always planned. In fact, it came from a very real need for change in my life. The 9-to-5 grind was exhausting, both mentally and physically. I remember waking up each day, dragging myself through a long commute especially if you lived here in the Philippines, only to feel trapped at my desk for hours on end. Honestly, I needed a break, not from work itself, but from the rigid, or I'd rather say a toxic structure of it all.

The Push for Freedom

The thing that really got me thinking about remote work was my need for more freedom. I wanted to be able to control my schedule, work at my own pace, and just feel more balanced. One day, while browsing online, I found a review about OnlineJobs.ph. It was talking about hiring virtual assistants, but something about it clicked with me. The idea of working from anywhere, from the four corner of my own home, sounded just right at that very moment.

That’s when I started researching more about online work, specifically about being a virtual assistant. I read stories of a Filipino virtual assistant who changed their lives through working online at the comfort of their homes, and I realized, "This could be me." The flexibility to manage my time and tasks without someone who is managing me and constantly watching over my shoulder was incredibly appealing.

Why Remote Work Felt Right?

The flexibility of remote work wasn’t just about avoiding traffic or wearing pajamas to “the office.” It was deeper than that. I wanted to be able to take short breaks to spend time with family or run errands without feeling guilty. I needed more control over my day-to-day life, and remote work was the answer.

Honestly, I also loved the idea of improving my work-life balance. Working remotely meant I could be more present in my personal life without compromising my career. It wasn’t just a way to work. So I thought, it was a way to live better that's why I started to research more and more day by day how can someone like me start working without experience of working online.

The Leap of Faith

Making the leap into online job wasn’t easy at first. I had my doubts, but I started small. I began offering services I knew well, like customer service and appointment setting, roles that allowed me to work from anywhere. As I gained experience and confidence, I realized that this new lifestyle was exactly what I needed.

So right now I am happy of what I have. I've been in this field for almost nine years (9) and my present is far better than before. I have never imagined I can get my own house, buy a couple of mobile phones, high-end laptops, I was able to complete my home appliances, buy motorcycle, and the best thing is that I was able to support my siblings going to school. Not only that, I was able to pay my own bills and have had the leisure to travel with my loveones.

Since making the switch, I’ve been able to reclaim my time, reduce stress, and even improve my productivity. Remote work gave me the freedom to structure my days in a way that works best for me, while still delivering results on-time for my clients.
